Celebrating 20 Years with our Seneca Bark Longhouse

As the New Year approaches, we hope you will consider supporting Friends of Ganondagan, by contributing to our “Raise the Roof Campaign” to replace the Seneca Bark Longhouse roof.

In 1998, after two years of historically accurate craftsmanship, the Seneca Bark Longhouse opened to the public, as a way to further engage visitors and provide an authentic, living history experience.

After 20 years, it is time for our Seneca Bark Longhouse to have its roof replaced so it can continue its role as an educational tool, and a significant tourist attraction.

Our Seneca Bark Longhouse has been visited by over 650,000 local, regional, national and international visitors, and has become an essential destination to schools and universities in the area.

The dedicated staff at Ganondagan State Historic Site continues to do an excellent job of interpreting the Seneca Bark Longhouse, and has worked tirelessly to preserve the structure. However, we’ve now reached the critical point of complete roof replacement.

Thank you for considering supporting our "Raise the Roof Campaign" to replace the Seneca Bark Longhouse roof. We are extremely grateful for your financial gift of any amount.

As a special “Thank you”, those who donate $75 and above, will be entered into a raffle to win a beautifully framed, original piece of artwork by G. Peter Jemison . Every $75 gift increment will be reflected in multiple raffle entries.

Your generous contribution will help ensure that the Seneca Bark Longhouse will remain a vibrant cultural treasure for years to come.
